The Akron-Canton Area

An All-American Experience

Snapshot

Home of the blimp and the largest chocolate store in the Midwest, the Football Hall of Fame and the Soap Box Derby, the PGA Firestone Invitational and the International Baton Twirling Championships, the communities of Summit, Stark and Portage Counties offer a diverse working and recreational life for more than one million people. Akron, a three-time All-American City and once the rubber capital of the world, is now energized by research, financial and high-tech ventures.

Canton, the Stark County seat 24 miles south of Akron, has diversified its manufacturing economy into finance, retail, health care and education. Ravenna’s historic downtown is one of the charms of this self-contained, family-oriented community founded in 1799, and now the Portage County seat. The region is served by the Akron-Canton Airport and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

No more than forty minutes away is Cleveland: four professional sports teams, musical venues from the world-famous Cleveland Orchestra’s home at Severance Hall to the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, multi-ethnic communities and multifaceted culture, dining, shopping, education and recreation along the Lake Erie shore.
